Quick Start — Participant

Joining a live NextGenPoll run takes under a minute and requires no account or app download.

The Participant Flow

Step 1 — Get the Join Code

Your presenter will share a 4–6 character join code (e.g., RANKIT) verbally, on their slides, or via a QR code displayed in the room.

Step 2 — Open the Join Page

Navigate to nextgenpoll.com/join in any browser on your phone, tablet, or laptop.

Enter the code and tap Join.

Can't see the Join page?

Your presenter may have shared a direct link — clicking it takes you straight into the lobby, skipping the code entry step.

Step 3 — Wait for the First Question

Once joined, you will see a waiting screen until the presenter activates a question. The page updates automatically via WebSockets — no refreshing required!

Step 4 — Submit Your Answer

When a question appears, select or type your answer and tap Submit. You will see confirmation once your response is recorded.

  • You can only submit once per question (unless the presenter resets responses).
  • Some polls are anonymous — your identity is never linked to your answers.
  • Your answer is final once submitted; there is no edit option.

Step 5 — View Results (if enabled)

After answering, the presenter may reveal results to the audience. If so, a live chart will appear on your screen updating as more participants respond.

Step 6 — Continue through the Poll

The view automatically advances when the presenter pushes new questions. Stay on the page — you will be notified as each question opens.

Asking a Question (Q&A Board)

If the presenter has enabled Q&A mode, you can submit your own question to the presenter:

  1. Tap the Q&A tab (or button) visible on your screen.
  2. Type your question (up to 150 characters by default).
  3. Tap Submit.
  4. Upvote or downvote other participants' questions to help the presenter prioritize them.
note

You cannot vote on your own submitted question.
