Quick Start — Participant
Joining a NextGenPoll session takes under a minute and requires no account or app download.
Step 1 — Get the Session Code
Your presenter will share a 4–6 character join code (e.g., RANKIT) verbally, on their slides, or via a QR code displayed in the room.
Step 2 — Open the Join Page
Navigate to nextgenpoll.com/join in any browser on your phone, tablet, or laptop.
Enter the code and tap Join.
Your presenter may have shared a direct link — clicking it takes you straight into the session, skipping the code entry step.
Step 3 — Wait for the First Question
Once joined, you will see a waiting screen until the presenter activates a question. The page updates automatically — no refreshing required.
Step 4 — Submit Your Answer
When a question appears, select or type your answer and tap Submit. You will see confirmation once your response is recorded.
- You can only submit once per question (unless the presenter resets responses).
- Some sessions are anonymous — your identity is never linked to your answers.
- Your answer is final once submitted; there is no edit option.
Step 5 — View Results (if enabled)
After answering, the presenter may reveal results to the audience. If so, a live chart will appear on your screen updating as more participants respond.
Step 6 — Continue through the Session
The session automatically advances when the presenter pushes new questions. Stay on the page — you will be notified as each question opens.
Asking a Question (Q&A Mode)
If the presenter has enabled Q&A mode, you can submit your own question to the presenter:
- Tap the Q&A tab (or button) visible on your screen.
- Type your question (up to 150 characters by default).
- Tap Submit.
- Upvote or downvote other participants' questions to help the presenter prioritize them.
You cannot vote on your own submitted question.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| "Invalid code" error | Double-check the code — codes are case-insensitive but must be exact. Ask the presenter to confirm. |
| Page doesn't update | Check your internet connection; the page uses a live WebSocket connection. Refresh once to reconnect. |
| Already submitted | Each question accepts one response per session. If you need to change your answer, ask the presenter to reset responses. |
| Can't open the page | Ensure you are not blocked by a corporate proxy or firewall; try a personal device or mobile hotspot. |
