Spaces and Polls
NextGenPoll organises polls into a streamlined hierarchy: Workspace → Space → Poll.
Hierarchy Overview
Workspace
A workspace is the top-level organisational unit, typically representing a company, team, or course.
- Every presenter account belongs to at least one workspace.
- Workspaces contain multiple spaces.
- Workspace-level settings and member management are handled by an administrator.
Space
A space is a shared context within a workspace, such as a class section, department, or recurring meeting series.
- Presenters create spaces and invite members.
- Polls are created and grouped inside a space.
- Members of a space can see all polls within that space.
Creating a Space
- Navigate to My Spaces in the sidebar.
- Click New Space.
- Give it a name and assign it to a workspace.
- Add members by email.
Joining a Space
Members receive an invitation email with a join link (nextgenpoll.com/join/{code}). Clicking the link automatically adds them to the space.
Polls and Poll Runs
A Poll is the container for your questions and settings. When you launch a poll live, it creates a Poll Run (previously called a session).
| State | Description |
|---|---|
| Draft | Poll created; no run has been launched yet. |
| Active | A Poll Run is live; participants can join the lobby and respond to active questions. |
| Closed | The Poll Run is ended; responses are locked and saved for review. |
Launching vs Resuming
When you want to run a poll:
- Launch new session: Starts a brand-new Poll Run with an empty slate of responses.
- Resume session: Re-opens a currently active Poll Run, allowing participants to join the exact same lobby.
Viewing Past Runs
From the poll dashboard, you can view all historical runs of a poll, seeing exactly how participants answered during each specific event.
